The Casentino valley is a green oasis between Florence and Arezzo, on the gently slopes of the Apennines. It is entirely crossed by the Arno river, that flows, still uncontaminated, along this valley before reaching Florence and the Tirreno sea. Casentino is an fascinating area, full of charm and appeal: its medieval castles, the ancient rural villages, the colours of nature, the handicraft traditions, the passion for refined food, the care for the human and the spiritual wellbeing are features shared by the whole region of Tuscany. Yet Casentino has its special attributes: it is a relatively less known area, which has preserved the genuinity that many mass tourism sites have already lost.

The village of Bibbiena is easy to reach both by car, train. The nearby airports are in Florence, Pisa and Forlì.
By car:

- From Bologna: autostrada A14 (highway), exit Cesena nord, then E45 (highway), exit Bagno di Romagna, direction    Bibbiena (Cesena nord-Bibbiena: around 60 minutes).
- From Florence, two options: A1 Rome-Florence, exit Arezzo, or SS70, across the Passo della Consuma (both around 75 min.)
- From Arezzo: SS71, following Bibbiena-Casentino directions (30/40 minutes).
